About
CICERO is the first AI to achieve human-level play in the complex multiplayer strategy game Diplomacy. Unlike chess, Diplomacy requires players to negotiate, form alliances, deceive, and cooperate through natural language. CICERO combines a controllable dialogue model with a planning engine, capable of inferring other players' beliefs and intentions.
Playing 40 games against 82 human players on webDiplomacy.net, it averaged twice the human score and ranked in the top 10%. Each game averaged 130 messages sent. Featured on the cover of Science magazine.
